Sustainably Fueled by a Higher Power
Grace Church has just moved our Godly Play room to a new location - the south transept of the church. Godly Play is an exploratory and open minded religious education program for young children. We recently offered the program during the week to children in the surrounding community whose families would like them to have spiritual formation as a bi weekly activity. Now that the Godly Play room is set up in the church, we'll be ready to offer Godly Play sessions after the Sunday service.
Godly Play takes place on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of every month. We're currently taking the summer off and will resume again in the fall. If you'd like to sign up, please let us know.
If you would like to learn how to be a Godly Play storyteller, please contact Elsa. This is a deeply enriching ministry for those who love children.
To find out more about what Godly Play is all about, visit the Godly Play Foundation website HERE. You can also see a great introductory video HERE.
Godly Play is based upon the recognition that children have an innate sense of the presence of God. All they lack is the appropriate language to help them identify and express it so it can be explored and strengthened. The Godly Play approach teaches about parables, sacred story, silence, prayer and Christian liturgy – in a way that enhances the child’s authentic experience of God so it can contribute to the creative life of the child and the world. Children are invited to interact with beautifully made materials to explore stories about God, the Bible and the Church and their own reactions to them. It's learning about God through play!
